Bridge House Hotel - Beaminster

700-year-old BridgeHouse is a magical, Dorset country house hotel full of character - the product of generations of history passing through its doors. Originally a home for a dozen priests, the hotel now has its own unique, boutique style, sympathetic to its heritage as well as contemporary comfort.

The aim is to create an unpretentious home from home in a relaxed modern way. We provide luxury hotel accommodation with every bedroom decorated in its own individual style. Each has refurbished bathrooms some with romantic, stand-alone baths, Molton Brown toiletries, crisp white Frette linen and free wi-fi as standard. The public rooms reflect the building’s history from Medieval to Georgian panelled dining room to alfresco dining area set within a child and pet friendly, private walled garden.

Even though a recent expenditure of over 1 million has been spent on modernising and refurbishing the hotel, you can still feel the history that is associated with its 288 year existence, you can imagine the scene of Michael Henchard The Mayor of Casterbridge carrying on his business in Kings Arms as described in the novel by Thomas Hardy. The author himself described it as the chief hotel in Casterbridge namely, BEST WESTERN - Kings Arms.

The Elizabeth House Hote - Southampton

Originally two Victorian Houses The Elizabeth House Hotel was opened some 60 years ago by an ex cruise liner steward. Photos and pictures in the Reception Lounge area remind visitors of this connection with the sea.

As part of a sustained programme of improvement, the present owners added No. 42 The Avenue (next door) in 2001, which was, for many years, the Rectory for St. Barnabas Church and latterly the constituency office of the late Sir James Hill, one of Southampton's M.P's.

There are now 27 ensuite bedrooms. High ceilings, original plaster covings, stained glass and banisters etc. have been retained giving the hotel a spacious airy ambience.

The Hotel is owned and managed by Brett and Karen Hockin both of whom learned their trade working in a national chain of luxury hotels. They live on site with their family.
